At Montvale Health & Wellness, our massage therapists use therapeutic massage to improve anatomical functionality and stimulate the body’s own healing processes.
The use of therapeutic massage as a healing technique dates back to 3000 B.C.E. It is still one of the leading alternative healthcare options available today. Therapeutic Massage is the perfect supplement to all medical services offered here at Montvale Health & Wellness. As part of a modern therapeutic facility, we highly recommend incorporating massage therapy into your healthcare regimen for an overall feeling of wellness and balance of body, mind and spirit.

Therapeutic Massage is a Swedish-based massage combined with a variety of modalities such as Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Lomi Lomi Massage and Acupressure. A combination of soft tissue manipulations including long strokes, kneading, compression, rocking and deep spiraling movements are used to relax and rejuvenate you. Therapeutic Massage can range from light and gentle to firm and deep, depending on the patient’s needs.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the superficial layer of muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience persistent pain, engage in rigorous physical activity (such as athletes) or for patients who have sustained physical injury. Not to be confused with “Deep Pressure” Massage, Deep Tissue is used to treat musculoskeletal disorders and complaints and employs a dedicated set of techniques and strokes to reduce pain.
Medical Massage focuses treatment on improving the specific condition a patient may present. A targeted treatment protocol, which may include a variety of modalities, is utilized with the intent to improve a patient’s condition that has been diagnosed by a physician. This may include conditions such as sciatica, headache, or neck pain.
Sonia Petriello is our licensed massage therapist. With years of experience, Sonia provides her patients with the best care available and is certified in numerous techniques.
